Obvara Workshop with Aaron Ashcraft

Cost:  $150 Includes one bag of clay and studio access for duration of workshop

Dates and times: Working and Demo Day, September 22nd, 9 a.m - 3 p.m.  Throughout the day  Aaron will demonstrate throwing and handbuilding projects aimed at the Obvara firing process. Students will be making work too.  Textures, ideas and inspiration will be provided. 

Obvara Firing Day, October 6th, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Bonsai Workshop with Jen Davis

Cost: $150, includes a bag of clay, wire, mesh, and soil.  Students will need to provide a tree to be planted on the final night  

Dates and times: Thursdays, 7 - 9:30, September 20, 27 and October 4th, and open studio hours for duration of workshop

Students will work to complete 1-3 bonsai pots and complete planting of 1 tree.  Learn styles and proportions of types of pots used in Bonsai, as well as finishing techniques of the clay.  There will also be an introduction to selecting the type of trees for your pots, potting techniques, and basic bonsai care.

Intermediate wheel throwing experience is required.  Students must be proficient in throwing cylinders/bowls/plates.

Max of 8 students

Wheel-Throwing Experience

Cost:  $35 includes materials and instruction

This is a one-time clay experience for people who have always wanted to try their hand on the potter’s wheel, but can’t make the commitment to a long-term class.  It is intended for those who have little or no clay experience.  There will be group instruction, independent work time, and you are guaranteed a finished glazed piece to pick up two weeks after the workshop. Red Kiln is an ADULT only facility.  You must be 18 or over to enroll. 

Date and Time:  Wednesday, October 3,  7 – 8:30 p.m.
